Blueberry buns made with fresh blueberries!

June and July are the time for blueberry buns!

As soon as dark balls appear in the forest (a place where trees grow and there is not always mobile phone coverage), it means that confectioners have a lot of work to do with blueberry buns for the next two months. Over 20 years ago, when we started our adventure with stores, the distinguishing feature of blueberry buns was blueberry buns from Olsztynek, which came to us at least 3 times a week and, as I once counted, we sold about 25 thousand of them during the season. A few years ago, with the introduction of the 500+ program, blueberry buns from Olsztynek disappeared and were replaced by our own blueberry buns, which we made sure were unmatched in terms of the ingredients used to prepare them. I am amazed by the so-called rankings for the best blueberry buns in Warsaw, because none of them take into account what this exceptionally dark-colored cookie is made of.

In our season, we consistently use the following main ingredients: fresh blueberries from the Siedlce area, which we go to pick ourselves, only organic eggs and real butter. Out of season, we use frozen blueberries, to which we add blueberry freeze-dried fruit, which means that our blueberry buns contain more than 100% blueberries!

Blueberry buns are available in our stationary stores every day from 8:00 a.m., in some a little later.

A bit of history

Where did jagodzianki come from? Jagodzianki are a typical baked product in eastern Mazovia. The beginnings of their baking can be traced to folk customs of celebrating parish fairs. During fairs, departing guests were given jagodzianki. Buns full of berries made of yeast dough endured transport exceptionally well, at the same time constituting a sweet memory of the fair party.

A wealth of taste and health-promoting properties!

Blueberries are not only exceptional in taste. They owe their color to a huge amount of anthocyanins, which have many health-promoting properties. In addition, these fruits are low in calories, have a low glycemic index and are a source of many valuable vitamins and minerals.

Taking into account the composition of blueberries: butter, milk, organic eggs, yeast, flour, blueberries, sugar,

we estimate the following nutritional values in 100 g of product:

231 kcal

8.3 g protein

12.1 g fat

22.9 g carbohydrates

Interesting facts:

Freeze-drying is the most modern and healthiest method of food preservation. The final product is deprived of water, which perfectly preserves it and prevents the development of bacterial flora. After adding water, freeze-dried products regain their original properties. The only downside is the high price of freeze-dried fruit.

Frozen vegetables and fruits are a good alternative to supplementing your diet with vegetables and fruits outside the summer season. During freezing, losses of vitamins and minerals are negligible.
